National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India was formed on April 4, 1978. Today, it administers 26 Science Centres/Museums spread all over India.
NCSM has developed its own nationwide network of 26 science museums and centres. Among 26 centres, divided into North, South, East, North East and West Zones.
there are 7 National Level Centres namely Science City, Kolkata, Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata, Nehru Science Centre (NSC), Mumbai, Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, National Science Centre (NSC), Delhi, National Science Centre, Guwahati and Central Research and Training Laboratory, Kolkata.
