Army Public School Danapur Recruitment 2025-Danapur cantonment is the oldest existing cantt of the Indian Sub Continent established in 1765. It was earlier called Bankipore Cantt which is shifted to Danapur inn 1767-68. Its first commander was Robert Barker. It was the Largest cantt under Bengal which accommodated two batteries, under commandant LLYOD: I. An European Artillery and, II. A Native Infantry Regiment.
The Indian Sepoys of Native Infantry was formed by the men mainly from Arrah, the HQ of Shahabad District. The Historic Arrah Barracks are one of the Longest Barrackss in the world. The contruction actually started in 1773 and continued for 43 years. Finally in 1816 it was ready for occupancy by His majesty’s 10th Regiment.
The construction of Arrah Barracks was in part financed by the Raja of Arrah. The Raja was compelled to provide the labour force for construction. Since Raja of Arrah Financed these Barracks and majority of Sepoys belonged to Arrah the name Arrah Barracks was appended to this building.
